Chewing your food not only aids with metabolism, you end up eating less. When you gulp down your food in one bite, your stomach tastes longer to digest it. In addition, the hormone responses going to your brain to tell it that it no longer needs food, takes time. When you eat too fast, the response system may not have the time to work. You end up eating a lot more before you realize you are stuffed. When you chew more, you create more of the digestive enzymes and your stomach has time to tell your brain it is satisfied. As a result, you do not overstuff. It is recommended you chew a lot and that you chew relatively slowly, not a fast chomp, chomp, chomp and swallow. It is good advice to lose weight and avoid the temptations of those unhealthy snacks waiting for you to fill up.
